Oh Christmas Tree

So Tony decided we needed to take down the tree last weekend. This is the only part about Christmas I don't like, taking everything down and putting it all away. Since our Christmas tree is over 6' we have to cut it down and put it in the green bin because the trash company will not take it. Well Tony decided he was going to cut the tree down in the living room! It was such a mess! Pine needles flew everywhere! I am glad that is all done and taken care of!

Top 100 Movies

I decided to finally start watching the AFI list of the top 100 movies of the last 100 years. You can see the complete list here. I plan on starting at #100 and working my way to #1. I placed the first 10 movies into my Netflix que and waited for the first to arrive. The first movie I got is #100 which is the epic, Ben-Hur. I have to tell you right off the bat I am intimidated by this movie. Not only because it's suppose to be a great epic film, that won 11 Academy Awards but because it is 4 HOURS long. I am going to have to tackle this movie in pieces over the weekend. I don't think I can sit still for that long, but I'll check back in and let y'all know what I think!Happy Friday!

This time of year I am always baking something! I get that from my mom, whatever I bake she has me beat by 10x. Her house is always filled with all kinds of yummy baked goods for Christmas! Here are a few things I have baked over the last few days. Still more baking to do before Christmas!

We spent a few days at the Beach at Chun's Reef which is where many sea turtles hang out. It was so much fun to snorkel and see them swimming right under and around you. They also like to sleep up on the beach which was awesome to see them so upclose.I have a few more posts left from the Hawaii trip that I will post over the next couple of days!

Halloween

I was so excited yesterday because it was the first Halloween ever that we got to pass out candy at our own house! It was so fun seeing all the little kids and their costumes walking around. We had some good candy waiting for the trick or treaters.

I also was able to walk around the block with my niece and nephews.

The other part of my Halloween was taking Zoe to the vet. I thought she had double ear infections again but luckily they are only hot spots which is still an infection but only on her skin and not in her ear canals. So she had to be shaved around both ears again and was given a steroid shot to help them dry out.

Dad's Skydiving Take 2

So my Dad decided that he LOVED skydiving so much that he was going to do it again today. Well he did and this time they did some backflips and spins and he had a blast. He loved it sooooo much that he is going one final time tomorrow morning before we leave Hawaii. He requested his instructor Pete again today, he is such a fun guy. So last night we ordered pizza for dinner. All I wanted was some cinnamon sticks with a side of marinara sauce. Even when Tony ordered it the girl on the phone said ewwww. For some reason I love the combination of the sweet taste of the cinnamon with the tangy marinara. It is soooooo delicious!!

I can not believe how hot it has been lately. The heat has been ridiculous reaching 110 degrees on Saturday. Luckily my cousin Mike invited us all over to celebrate his birthday and we got to swim and have a good time. They had the funnest slide ever, I was so glad I went and was able to have fun and spend it with family.

Birthday Cones

I made these ice cream cone cupcakes the other night for a friends birthday. They turned out super cute and are super easy to make! All you need is any boxed cake mix. Make the cake mix per the directions on the box and fill the cones with 1/4 cup batter. Bake @ 350 for 25-30 mins. Let cook & decorate with frosting and sprinkles! Word or warning these should be served fairly soon but if you decide to bake ahead of time DO NOT cover the cones, they will get soggy.

BBQ & a fire: Wordless Wednesday

This weekend we had some family over for a BBQ we had such a fun time just hanging out together. There was also a fire about 15 miles from our house and we could see all the black smoke and even had ashes falling outside. Although over 900 acres burned luckily no homes were destroyed or in danger and they were able to contain and put it out fairly quickly.

Today I got to go to the OC fair with my cousin Laina. We had such a good time walking around the fair. It was a beautiful day to be outside!

Disneyland

Well today we snuck out to disneyland and got there about 5:30pm. I was so excited to ride the Little Mermaid ride that opened in June. I was even more excited when I saw the 20 minute wait time!! I had heard that the wait was over an hour since it is still fairly new. I thought they did a great job it was so fun to ride and sing along with the songs. I was probably the only one on that ride that knew all the words ;)

So even though Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, I was not having a good day! First I forgot my camera in the car and was not willing to do the 5 mile trek back to the car just to get it. Then fast forward about 2 hours we were standing in line for Goofy's Air Flight (or somthing like that) in california advventure and we had some pretty annoying kids behind us. So half way through the line one of the girls behind us starts laughing really hard after she just took a drink of water and spit it out all over me & tony. Yeah, you read that right SPIT it out all over me & Tony. I just stared at her is shock like did that really just happen? But it did and she kind of laughed and said i'm sorry. It took every ounce of me to restrain from going off on her but I just took a deep breath and carried on.

Other than that I enjoyed my time at Disneyland.

Carmela's Chicken Rigatoni

This recipe comes from the Cookbook American's Most Wanted Recipes. It is a recipe from the Macaroni Grill called Carmela's Chicken Rigatoni. It is the best pasta recipe ever! It is so delicious it is one of my favorite dishes to make. It does take awhile to cook about 2 hours start to finish but it is well worth the time spent!

What you need:
1 large onion
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp butter
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1 package chicken breasts
2 tsp fresh basil
3/4 cup Marsala wine
2 cups heavy cream
1 pound rigatoni pasta, cooked
Opitional: Parmesan cheese

Slice the onion into thin strips and saute in 1 tbsp of each butter & olive oil. Saute the onions on low heat until they are dark brown and almost mushy. This part takes at least an hour to do so start the onions first giving yourself plenty of time.

In a serperate skillet heat 1 tbsp butter and 3 tbsp olive oil together and add the mushrooms (sliced), chicken pieces (cut in chunks), basil (chopped) and the carmelized onion. Saute until chicken is cooked through.

Remove the contents from the pan and place in a bowl. Deglaze the pan with the Marsala wine and let simmer for about a minute before returning the chicken mixture to the pan. Add the heavy cream bring to a boil before turning down the heat. Let simmer until sauce has slightly thickened. You can season with salt & pepper if you'd like.

Add the cooked rigatoni to the chicken mixture, stir to combine all the ingredients. Serve and garnish with parmesan cheese if you'd like. This dish will easily feed a family of 4.

I did slightly modify the original recipe but I find this works well!

This has to be one of the best disney films ever! No matter how many times I watch this movie it makes me cry. The last scene where they all think they are facing the end is one of the most heart wrenching scenes to watch.

I can't wait until Toy Story 4 comes out, I hope it stands up to the Toy Story legacy and is as good as the others.

For the wedding we stayed in Provo, Utah. It was absolutely beautiful there. We were so close to the beautiful mountains that actually still had some snow on them. One of the best things was that fireworks are legal in Utah and everynight we would watch tons of fireworks light up across the sky, it was so beautiful!! We had a great time and definetely will be going back to see more of Utah.

Dinner Italian Style

So recently I have been loving Buddy Valastro from the Cake Boss, I absolutely love his show and was so excited to see he has a new show called the Kitchen Boss. I watch his show everyday when I get home. He has so many good recipes that he cooks. All of his recipes on the show are Italian which we LOVE Italian food especially PASTA! Here is one of the recipes I made the other night and it was delicious!

First I made Rigatoni alla Vodka (don't worry there is actually no Vodka in this recipe) You can see the recipe here

Next I made Chicken Parmesan for Tony. I used lots of fresh cheese, and the other thing I liked is it is not breaded, he loved it! This recipe was from Giada De Laurentis from the Food Network. You can view that recipe here.

This was easy to make not to mention delicious! So the next time you are thinking of what to make for dinner, try one of these recipes!

This weekend we went to Las Vegas with my family. My dad & uncle work the Nascar race held in Las Vegas every year on the pit fire safety team. We all had lots of fun walking the strip. Christmas Aftermath

Christmas is my favorite time of year, except when it comes to cleaning up. We love to have a big christmas tree and this year was no exception. It was 10 feet tall and took 1200 lights to cover it and about 300 different ornaments. It was torture taking that thing down!! Well we waited a bit to long and the tree dried out before we took it out of the house, so when we moved it we had needles everywhere!

I can't believe I forgot to take a full picture of our tree this year, but here is a little glimpse of it through the window.

We also have to cut the tree down since it is so tall because the trash service will not pick up trees over 6 feet.

It was an all day adventure getting that tree taken down and put away, but it is finally done. It only took us 3 weeks after Christmas!

Resolutions

Every year I have the same resolution, to lose weight!! Last year I gave up drinking regular Dr. Pepper and stuck to it for an entire year, I can't believe it. Now I did drink Diet Dr Pepper but hey diet is better for you right? So this year I did the same thing and as of this past monday I have started my diet and my regular workout routine at the gym, so far so good. I know it's only been two days but we'll see how it goes. I'll do a weekly check in on my goal to lose 20 lbs.

Well since the time change when I get home from work it is completely dark. A few challenges this week were outside so I decided to try and take some pics of our christmas lights on the house...

Tony brought home some flowers the other day and the arrangement had some tulips in it. They were the most beautiful flowers, so full of color and life. I moved them in the sun and they fully opened it was neat to see. Here are a few pics of them SOOC, I didn't edit because I loved the colors in the photos.

Playing Catch Up

Rome....

Well we made it to Rome this morning after a slight delay leaving Venice because of bad weather. The flight was short but it felt like it took us all day to get here because of the delay. The weather predictions were supossed to be heavy rain and wind but I am glad they were wrong! It rained a few minutes off and on today but the sun was shining and it was a nice day hopefully it stays the same for the rest of the time we are here.

We have a HUGE hotel room!! It has a office a little living room and a huge balcony that has three different sliding door exits on to it! The funny thing is this is the cheapest we have paid nightly out of all the places and it has the biggest room! We are a little farther from the city center than I would have liked but the train station is right behind the hotel and is only 3 stops away, and at 1 Euro each way which is a bargain compared to other forms of public transportation here.

We did laundry today, well I should say Tony did laundry today. We only washed a few things that we needed but we went down to the local supermarket and bought some laundry soap and he washed clothes in the bathtub, since the hotel charges ridiculous prices to do your laundry. That's it for today, we will get out into the city and sightseeing tomorrow.

Last Day in Venice

Well yesterday was 9 years together for me and Tony. It was a little rainy here in Venice and we pretty much laid in bed all day because I was sick. I feel a little better today but hopefully tomorrow I will get over this cold so we can get on our way to Rome. We leave tomorrow morning to go Rome which is supossed to have heavy rain & wind so that should be fun, we probably won't be able to do any sightseeing tomorrow if the weather is as bad as they say it is going to be. Today we walked around somemore and did a little shopping.

Venice

What an amazing city!! It has such a different atmosphere than Paris... Today we went and walked around and got to see a little of what Venice is all about. I ended up getting sick yesterday so we went to a pharmacy and got some cold medicine so hopefully that will help, but I am not letting being sick stop us from doing anything! I am already in love with the Pasta, I could just eat pasta all day long but Tony won't let me.

We made it to Venice

Yesterday, we went to disneyland which was so much fun! We had to figure out how to take the train which takes you straight to the park, that was an adventure in itself! We finally figured it out by watching other people. Although it is a disneyland park everything about it was different. All the big rides, like Space Mountain has loops in them so that was a big surprise. But the park was great it seemed smaller than the disneyland in CA but the best part was no lines!! The longest we waited was for Space Mountain and that was 20 mins. Since it was our last night in Paris we walked down and saw the Eiffel Tower light up one last time, what an amazing sight to see!

Well this morning we woke up at 7:30am which is the time we were suppossed to leave to catch our 9:45am flight, so we had to rush and get ready and finish packing but we made it and all was well. We first flew to Rome and then from Rome to Venice. When we arrived in Venice we had to take a water taxi from the airport directly to our hotel dock! It was so amazing riding in a boat through the city and seeing all the amazing buildings and the rows of gondolas. We just relaxed today and will get on with the sight seeing tomorrow, I am so excited.

Another Day in Paris

Well I thought we had gotten used to the time change but when we couldn't fall asleep until 2am (CET) time and woke up at 2pm (CET) that aparently wasn't true! This time change is a kick in the butt, it really is. We went to the Moulin Rouge last night and had a great time, it was a packed theatre but what a fun experience. We were suppossed to go to Disneyland today but since we woke up soooo late we decided to go tomorrow, hopefully we can wake up on time!! Today we went to the Louve and got to see the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and a few other famous works of art. That museum is so gigantic you can spend all day in there and you still probably wouldn't see it all.

Let's see what else about Paris.... there really is a language barrier which I knew there would be but alot more people speak or at least understand English than I expected. So I carry around a piece of paper with the hotel name and address on it so if the cab driver doesn't understand us we can just show him the paper. There are not really any restaurants here, only cafe's. They open in the morning and then close at 2:30pm and then re-open at 7pm for diner so that took us awhile to figure out so we thought everything closed early so we have been eating room service. (It's sad when they already know your order) They have the best macaroni and cheese it is made with Beaufort cheese which I had never heard of before then but it is so delicious!!

Tomorrow we plan on going to the Notre Dame Cathedral and then heading out to Disneyland, if we wake up on time! Tomorrow is our last full day in Paris and Friday we depart to Venice, Italy.

Oh, and Happy Late Birthday to my brother Larry, I didn't forget but my phone wasn't charged so this is a day late! Love you!

Paris - The City of Lights

I know it has taken me a few days to post but I forgot to get a converter for the electricity so I havn't been able to plug anything in until today! Well this time change is a kick in the butt, although I think we are finally getting used to it. We have been having a great time so far, yesterday we went to see the Eifel tower and the Arc de Triumphe. Today we walked down to the Louve but of course it was closed on Tuesdays so we will go back on Thursday. Tonight we are going to the Moulin Rouge and tomorrow we are going to disneyland so I am really exicted!!

I remember the man who took this photo at Epcot in Disney World (2008) for us saying that he had seen this actual fountain in Italy and how amazing it was to see in person. I thought to myself how amazing that would be to travel to Italy and see it for ourselves one day, well that day is quickly approaching!! We leave for our trip in 8 days!!! Although I am not sure which fountain it is yet, but I am sure we will find it!

This week I chose an old photo of me and my cousin Laina. When we were younger we were inseperable. Now that we have "grown up" and are both married, we try to make the time to get together once a month and catch up on each others lives. I miss spending time with her but I am excited that she will be joining us at Disneyland tomorrow.

The theme this week over at Paper Mama is Me & Mama. Here are a few pics of me and the dogs at the old house. We used to sleep with them in our bed, but we don't anymore since we moved into our new house. I kind of miss sleeping with them because they are so comfortable to sleep with, but they like to take over the house, so now they sleep in the garage. Tony took both of these with his camera phone so excuse the quality.

I stayed home sick this day and woke up with Fiona sleeping with me.

Well I did once, they had this game at Gameworks and you had to milk a big rubber cow it was kind of gross, does that count? But I have never milked a real one.

A really loud buzzer, but for some reason I don't even remember it going off this morning.

Definetely, Hot Chocolate!

Lots of stuff, I always eat my pizza backwards, and I eat any kind of sandwich in a circle.

Race Weekend

This past weekend was the Nascar race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. We go every single year and we always have such a good time.

We watched the Metal Mulisha perform, they always do some amazing stunts!

My nephew was so excited, he loved watching the cars go around the track

This pic was taken on Saturday during the practice for Sundays Nascar Cup race. This is my favorite driver, #14 Tony Stewart who won the race on Sunday, woo hoo!

Flashback Friday

Yeah, my favorite day of the week is here! I can't wait for the weekend. We are getting used to a new work schedule so I have not even picked up my camera all week!! I plan to get back in the swing of things this weekend.

I know this pic is small but what is funny about this is they have the wrong address on our house, we had to call and tell them they had it wrong!

This is our staircase that they got wrong three different times! They kept putting in the wrong railings.

This is our living room with the fireplace.

This week for Flashback Friday, I decided to go with pictues of our house. I can't believe that almost a year ago this is what our house looked like. It was still two months away from being finished. We got the keys the day before Thanksgiving last year. We wen't down to visit the house and see the progress almost every weekend. It was amazing to see what they had accomplished each week and how fast they built it.

Depends on what it is but usually grilled.

{two} if you could change one thing about where you live, without worrying about money, what would you change?Our house isn't even a year old, so I am still pretty happy with everything... I would put in a pool though!! The dogs love to swim and it would be great for those hot summers!

Evening, when I get to relax and watch TV with Tony.

I don't eat cereal

{five} do you open your mouth when you put mascara on?
Yes, I always wondered why I did this, but I guess I am not alone!

Ariel from the Little Mermaid, she's my fav!

{seven} what are your favorite pizza toppings?I like my pizza with just cheese and lots of it!

{eight} are you a heavy or a light sleeper?
Heavy, I can sleep through anything, its getting to fall asleep that's the hard part.

Monopoly!! I have many great memories of playing Monopoly all night with my cousin, now we even own the regular and Disney Pixar monopoly.

I took this challenge a little different and thought of a few things that make me feel togetherness.

Movies always give me a sense of togetherness, wheter I am going to see a movie with my mom or laying on the couch watching a movie while Tony sleeps next to me.

Zoe always makes sure Fiona's ears are clean.

Here they are getting into trouble together.

Lately I have been feeling torn apart with Zoe & Fiona fighting, but they have finally calmed down and we are now able to be one family back together again.

1. Miniature - this is confetti from the baby shower last weekend, it definitely is miniature I am still finding it all over my house

2. Water droplet - this didn't come out as good as I wanted but I think it works for this one

3. Bedhead - when I saw this I knew it was perfect for me... I have such thin hair and when I wake up in the morning it is all over the place

4. Colorful - this pic has a lot of noise in it but I was too lazy to retake it

5. Eyes - I think by this picture her eyes were saying get that camera out of my face! But she is a good sport and lets me torture her from time to time with taking pics of her.

One of my front teeth is brown in this picture because I fell in the bleachers at one of my brothers football games and hit my tooth. So I had this wonderful brown tooth until it fell out and my permanent one came in.

This week at The Wishful Lamb the theme is cool cats. Well since I don't own any cats, I thought a pic of my mom's tattoo would work for the theme. This cat represents the cats we had growing up, Molly & Steeler who have passed away a few years ago now. There is a heart inside the cat to represent each one.

Shoot-N-Tell: Bounce

This weekend I had my sister-in-law's baby shower at my house. We had balloons all over the floor so today when we got up we let the dogs in and they loved playing with them, especially Bella. She could keep it in the air for awhile it was so funny to watch. Then Zoe figured out how to pop them so her and Fiona went around the house and popped every single balloon!

Where does the weekend go?

Why does the weekend have to go by so fast. It seems like they just fly by and nothing was accomplished. So what kept me so busy this weekend? Well Saturday I had to take Fiona to the vet which is in Rancho Cucamonga a good 40 mins from the house. We thought she had a wound from her recent tussle with Zoe, but it turns out she has a hotspot which is a skin infection that is common in dogs especially in the warmer months. So she had to have her poor ear shaved so they can properly treat it. She has to take antibiotics, a steroid and have ointment put on 2x a day. She is doing really well not messing with it so hopefully she will heal okay.

Saturday night I babysat my niece and she had us watch three different movies, first was Nanny McPhee, then Tinkerbell but half way through Tinkerbell she decided she wanted to watch New Moon, which she fell asleep right after we put it on, so I finished watching the Tinkerbell movie by myself after that. I always have fun watching her.

Today I was able to go and see baby G in the hospital. Any pictures taken of him make him look so much bigger than he actually is. It is amazing how tiny he is, his head is probably a little bit smaller than my fist. He is doing really well and was smiling almost the whole time I was there, he even opened his eyes for me. This is a pic my brother took that I thought was cute, he already has his own personality.

Well here we are another Friday, this is one of my favorite days for challenges!

Photo Roulette this week was 8(30), this photo came from the year 2006, 8th Folder 30th pic. This was taken when we went to Pismo Beach, I am pretty sure this was from when we pulled over on the side of the road to take a few pics on the way to Hearst Castle.

I have been thinking alot about school lately since all the kids are starting back up, so I decided to use this photo for Flashback Friday. It is from 2007 after I graduated college and my parents threw me a surpise graduation party. They made it a costume party since my major was Radio, TV & film so everyone came dressed up as their favortie actor from a film. The photo is of me and my brothers, one Napoleon Dynamite and the other Luke Skywalker.

Wicked

Wicked, was amazing!!! The cast in San Fransisco was great, and they really made it a fun show!! I never get tired of this show no matter how many times I see it, I think this was #7 and I can't wait to see it again!! If you have not gotten to seen this show I suggest you do! The Orpheum theatre was absolutely beautiful inside, but they are VERY strict on no photography period in the theatre so I wasn't able to take any of the amazing set, and architecture of that theatre.

I can't believe we slept in today until 11:00 am!!!! I can't even remember the last time that we slept in that long, it must be these black out drapes in the hotel room.

We went to Pier 39...

and met some interesting creatures ...

And then they ate lots of crab....

Baby G

Well today was a great day, I became an aunt again for the 9th time. Baby G was born this morning and was a whole 10 weeks early!! I guess he just couldn't wait to come out and meet us all. Baby and mama are doing fine, Baby G was 2lb 14oz and will be in the NICU for a few weeks until they can get his weight up and to make sure his lungs are fully developed and properly functioning. I am so excited to meet this little guy, and am thankful that he is doing great under the circumstances. I am in San Fransisco until Sunday so I will hopefully get to see him then.

6 Month Fitness Challenge

Well I have been thinking that I really need to get back into working out and just being healthy in general, but I am a big time slacker when it comes to working out. So I thought that I would do alot better and maybe stick to it if I had some fellow ladies who would like to do this with me. So this is what I propose, a weekly link up where you can post photos, thoughts anything you want about your fitness journey. Your goal can be to lose weight, make better eating choices, or just improve your overall health. It would go from October 1, 2010 - March 31, 2010, and have weekly check ins where we can support one another on achieving our goals. So I have posted a poll on the right hand side of my blog if you are interested.
